…christmas balls…
This was the year of Moneyball, Jingle Balls, soon-to-be New Year’s Eve ball drops…or in the case of Alec Baldwin, very “Schweddy Balls” on a recent flight….I’d like to call this the year of Christmas Balls. I got balls. Bowls of balls, balls on shells, balls on trays, birds and balls (borrowed from BHG? Real [...]
…merry christmas to me…
Having these three all home (after college boy arrives December 18th) is all I want for Christmas…

…autumnal thoughts…
I don’t care that it was hotter ‘n hell out there today but I am thinking fall decor anyway…seriously…it was like New Orleans in July this morning! When will this oppressive heat and humidity end? Nevertheless, it’s post-Labor Day so time to gear up for fall…put away white shoes and break out leaves, pumpkins and such. Perhaps, I’m [...]
…hearts afire…
So many expectations surround this holiday…couples need reservations for a special dinner and single folks feel bad. I like staying home, sharing the love with my family. My romantic dinner is often a “party of five” and that is okay with me and my valentine. We opt to do dinner the following week or a [...]
Winter Wonderland
Snowed-in in the mountains. Enjoying the snow covered trees, the icicles on my neighbors’ houses, and lots of hot cocoa!
My Favorite Start to the Season…
…the season doesn’t start for me until I take the annual candlelight tour in the historic Oakwood district of Raleigh. I have done this tour every year, all twenty-three of them, living in my adopted hometown. This year the weather looked pretty grim, and I was considering a “no-show” when my husband called on his way home [...]

My name is Carole...and this is my blog. I'm an interior redesigner, working primarily with what people already own. My ideal (I can dream big, can't I?): People will stop buying crap, refurbish and highlight their existing treasures, and if they absolutely need more "stuff", buy only resale items (vintage, antique, flea market or the like). And if it must be new "stuff," it would provide significant function, environmental sustainability, or support our artists and thereby feed our soul. I'm on a mission...please join me.
